Local News: CENECO Asked to Explain Brownouts

The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) through a resolution authored by SP member Councilor Cludio Jesus "Kalaw" Puentevella is requesting the Central Negros Electric Cooperative (CENECO) to formally explain the prevalence of power outages in the City.

In his statement, Councilor Puentevella said that the widespread and frequent occurrence of brownouts in the city can negatively affect the rate of business velocity and services of government organizations to the public, as well as negatively affect "usual household chores" and routine tasks of the community.

Councilor Kalaw likewise stressed that his office was able to gather several complaints regarding the "occurrence of variability of power supply and brownouts".

Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CENECO) informs its electricity consumers that, in order to ensure the stability of its distribution lines, maintenance activities will be conducted today February 21, 2014, Friday, as follows:

Date: February 21, 2014 - Friday

Time: 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM

Reasons:

Replacement/Relocation of rotten primary pole along Araneta St., fronting Rizal Elementary School, Bacolod City

Areas Affected:

RF2 Lopue’s San Sebastian, San Sebastian St. (from San Juan to Gatuslao St.), Araneta St. (Rodriguez Avenue – Gonzaga St.) Gaisano Dept. Store, part of Bacolod City Hall facing Araneta St. near Terry’s, Ballesteros St.

Business: CENECO Withholds P0.0457/kWh Collection

Announcement: POWER INTERRUPTION ON MARCH 30, 2014 DUE TO NGCP MAINTENANCE ACTIVITIES

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) will shutdown its 138kV Mabinay-Kabankalan Line 2 on March 30, 2014, Sunday, from 7:00AM to 5:00PM to conduct repair of damaged conductors, replacement of insulators and correction of hot spots.

CENECO shall take advantage of this downtime by implementing simultaneous maintenance activities in the following areas:

Date: March 30, 2014 - Sunday

Time: 7:00AM to 5:00PM

Reasons:

* Replacement of rotten 69kV poles at Abkasa, near Wellmix and at Mt. View Substation, Mandalagan, Bacolod City;

* Preventive Maintenance Schedule of 20MVA Power Transformer at Mt. View Substation, Mandalagan, Bacolod City; and

* Tree trimming covering Mt. View Feeders 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5

Local News: Lizares Re-elected CENECO Talisay Director

The District Elections Committee (DECOM) for District VIII–Talisay City chaired by Atty. Jovim V. Entila with members, Ms. Floresita H. Manager, Ms. Susan M. Panique and Ms. Amalia L. Consolado, proclaimed incumbent CENECO Director Paul T. Lizares, an unopposed candidate, as the re-elected Director for the said district. Lizares garnered seventeen (17) votes from Talisay City member-consumers during the district election held at CENECO Talisay Sub-office on April 26, 2014, Saturday, from 8:00AM to 9:30 AM.
